Assignment 5: Font Set

In Assignment 5, the goal was to take the font from Assignment 4 and create even more glyphs. This time, creating lower-case letters, numbers, and some other symbols. Much like Assignment 4, I just used FontStruct to create the rest of the font set.

Just like Assignment 4, I feel rather proud with how this one turned out. With the exception of some certain letters, the glyphs turned out a lot like how I planned to make them.

Assignment 4: Font Set (Capitals)

In this assignment, the goal was to create a font using some sort of font creator. I decided to use the font creator from the website FontStruct. After many hours of trying to use Photoshop to create custom-shaped glyphs and then move it to Adobe Illustrator and image trace it, I decided to start over in FontStruct, which was a lot easier to use to create a font set.

Overall, I feel rather proud of the font I created. I tried to keep it simple, but add my own taste to it.

Assignment 3: Vinyl Sticker

With assignment 3, the goal was to create a vinyl-based design. Initially, I used Photoshop to create a rough draft of the design that I planned to make. After plenty of trial and error, I decided on the design shown in the picture above. In order to cut the vinyl how it needed to be cut, this design had to be taken into Adobe Illustrator. First, I brought in the "gold" layer and used the image trace function to create a vector that I then cut out of vinyl. Second, I brought in the "blue" layer (a simple circle) and had that cut out of some vinyl. Lastly, I created a square in Illustrator and cut that out of black vinyl.

Overall, I feel good about this finished project. Not only does it fit the rubric of the assignment well, but it is something I personally like, and I am passionate about.

Assignment 1

With this assignment, I tried to take a picture of the texture in my shower and add effects to it through Photoshop brushes and then animating the brushes in flash. When I was initially working on this assignment, I wasn't very fond of how it was turning out, but as time went on, I started to like it more.

Introduction

My name is Dakota, and this is my first blog post for the 2015 Winter Quarter. I am currently going to Pierce College to get a degree in Digital Design. When I grow up, I would like to be working for a company, or myself, and making 3D art or even using CGI in movies, TV, and games.
