Assignment 18: The Wall Card Game Cards

The goal for assignment 18 was to create cards for a card game. I decided to use Photoshop to create my card designs. For the Protection card (bottom-right), I took the door to Moria from Middle-Earth lore. For the Wall card (bottom-left), I used the wall from Game of Thrones. For the Destruction card (top-right), I used a screen of a giant from Game of Thrones. Finally, for the card back (top-left) I tried to make a theme heavily based on Lord of the Rings.

I think the final versions turned out well. I spent the most time on the card back, since there was so much that could have been done. I really liked this assignment.

Assignment 17: Art Deco Poster

The Goal of assignment 17 was to create a post in the an Art Deco style. I decided to make Detroit the central subject of my poster. I started in Photoshop where I created the building (One Detroit Center) using shapes and fills. Then I added other designs for the background and other flourishes. After this was created, I took it into InDesign and added the text.

Overall, I feel confident with this poster. Personally, I like how it turned out and the fact that it is centered around a place that I will always hold dear.

NOTE: This picture above includes the extra content outside of the bleed (0.5 in on all sides)

Assignment 16: Zoetrope

The goal of assignment 16 was to create a zoetrope using Illustrator. I tried to keep mine simple, as I could not think of anything that could do to make it any more sophisticated. That's about it.

I don't feel to great with how it came out. First of all, I used Premiere to do the whole video part, rather than After Effects, then Premiere. I could have tried a bit harder to come up with something very unique, but I didn't, plain and simple.

Assignment 15: Infogrpahic

For assignment 15, the goal was to create an Infographic, BUT, due to my own misunderstanding (and at the time of writing this) I do not know if it was  meant to be an object that was illustrated or if we were allowed to consider a navbar an illustration. Anyway, I did not base my infographic on ONE singular image/illustration, so I may be in the wrong, here. Other than that, I used InDesign to create the multi-paged infographic, as well as used Illustrator to create to graphics used in it. I decided to use information based on the MMORPG World of Warcraft.

I believe I did not do as well as I could have on this assignment, vand I am very disappointed, even though the information in it is stuff I find very interesting.

Assignment 14: Newsletter

In assignment 14, the goal was to create an email newsletter. The main program used to create this newsletter was to be Adobe Dreamweaver. Following along with the lecture, I created a newsletter that followed the form of the lecture newsletter, but I did add some different design elements to make it my own.

Overall, I like the newsletter. I don't think it's boring, like mentioned in the lecture, and it fits the criteria of the assignment. The other thing I can look back and say is that I should have started planning what the layout of the newsletter was going to be, that way I could have made it 100% original. But, I didn't start planning this out that early, so the best thing I could come up with was based on the lecture.

Assignment 13: Website Using a Concrete Management System

The goal of assignment 13 was to create a 4-page website using a Concrete Management System. In this assignment, I chose to use WordPress. On the home page, I decided to use a picture of King's Landing from the T.V. series Game of Thrones. For the other pages, I decided to use the feature that Wikipedia has that allows you to open a random Wikipedia page and then I made a page based on that one. Here is the link.

Overall, I am content with the website. It turned out okay, but I did have a hard time trying to complete it. mostly because the interface language was Romanian, and it was a little difficult trying to figure out how to change it to English.
